Thanks for this, Aunt Carolyn! It's great to have it here in this format. Now, when anyone does a Google search for "William Bascom Benton," say, they get sent here. Cool.

What I've learned from looking over this heritage record:

1. I have roots in every state south of the Mason-Dixon, east of the Mississippi and north of Florida.

2. With each generation, starting with Grandmom and your dad, the family tree gets progressively less Texan and more Southern, based on place of birth. So:

Grandmom's generation (1916-1919) is 100% Texan and 0% Southern.

K-mom's generation (1892-1900) is 50% Texan and 25% Southern.

Charles Hamilton Benton's generation (1846-1880) is 25% Texan and 63% Southern.

William Henry Benton's (1823-1856) is 7% Texan and 93% Southern.

And Joseph Benton's generation (1787-1837) is 100% Southern.

My next goal is to get Mom's family tree here in this format . . . and then Mari's!

I like this format too. I wonder if your observation about migration from the south to Texas follows a general pattern for the population at large.

The pictures add a lot, don't they? Glad Jim has been working his scanner.

I have the same picture of James M. Rogers and Martha Ford hanging on my wall. James and Martha are my wife's great great grandparents. I have many other pictures including some Barney Ford and Sarah. I have a number of Rogers pictures that were likely taken in San Angelo, TX. I have a picture that includes James Rogers' father, Augustus Rogers, of Georgia and Nacagdoches County, TX.

Could we compare pictures and information?

How does Barney Ford fit into the family tree?

Henry Harrison Hight and Sarah Elizabeth Hight (Barney Ford's wife) were brother and sister...and my children are descendents of her line...in other words John and Jane Baker Hight are my childrens gggg grandparents. I am very interested in sharing pictures and history with anyone interested.

Henry Harrison Hight was not a brother to the wife of Barney Ford, he was her nephew.
